For years, the "Blue Tick" was a symbol of elite status. You had to be a celebrity, politician, or brand to get one.
In 2025, the game has changed. Meta (Instagram's parent company) now allows anyone to get verified... if you are willing to pay for it. Here is everything you need to know about getting verified in India.
1. What is the Price in India?
Instagram rolled out "Meta Verified" specifically for Indian creators. The pricing model is a monthly subscription, not a one-time fee.
Mobile Subscription (iOS/Android)
Purchased via the App Store / Play Store
Web Subscription
If you buy via the browser, it is slightly cheaper at ₹599/month.
2. The Eligibility Checklist
Even if you have the money, you can't just buy it instantly. You must meet these strict criteria:
- Real Name: Your profile name must match your Gov ID (Aadhar/PAN/Passport) exactly. No nicknames.
- Face Photo: Your profile picture must be a clear photo of your face. No logos or abstract art (unless you are a business applying for Business Verification).
- 2FA Enabled: You must have Two-Factor Authentication turned on for security.
⚠️ Crucial Warning
Once you get verified, you cannot change your Username, Profile Name, or Profile Photo easily. If you change them, you lose the tick until you verify your ID again. Choose your look carefully before applying!
3. Can I still get verified for Free?
Yes, the "Legacy" verification still exists for notable figures (journalists, politicians, viral stars).
To get this, you need Press Coverage. Instagram requires 5-10 articles about you in major news outlets (Times of India, NDTV, etc.). You cannot pay for these; they must be organic news.
Look "Verified" Before You Pay
A Blue Tick on an account with 50 followers looks suspicious. Build your base credibility first.
